nina en cavale

This is a picture taken at Le Hobit. I always seem to end up at this restaurant with company... took Collin there, took my sister there.... used to go there quite a lot... I guess it was one of those places that reminded me of some haunts I had in Edmonton... a mixture of Café La Gare and that place downtown with the Coquille de Chicken mornay David loved. Nina wanted to take a picture of the table and of the sugar on my latté before it sank...
I must say, I did try, but it seems almost impossible for me to write of Nina in a language other than English. It`s very paradoxal as she does understand and speak some French, yet our relationship has revolved around the usage of English, except for the occasional brain-farts on my part.
So Nina came to Quebec City... she's never been. I didn`t know. So we throad across the Old City, looking for coffee shops -- which are rather inexistant here, i must admit. Then again, it just goes to show how little I do, or can afford, to go out...

As always, we had a great time talking too much about this and that and such, walked a little too much up and down hills... i was was so dead the next day...

I must say the kids were great -- Pierre-Alexandre gave up his room, they were very polite at the table and things ran rather smoothly through two crock-pot meals... Christian, like most people, was a little taken aback by Nina's dress, which is always a little odd at best. But, as shy as he was with her, he did seem impressed by her dishwashing skills and her discourse in general, which he never let on that he understood. He always understands more than he lets on. One has to be careful... We had that great bottle of wine Christian's brother in law brought over at Christmas and that we never drank.

Nina loved the tin roofs of buildings here and we took a few pictures -- she mostly pushed me into taking pictures... :)

Nina's the kind of person that walks back into your life with such ease, as if you had just seen her the week before last. She walked into the kitchen, gave Christian a had with the dishes... She so easily slipped in and out of our lives and the boys seemed to really take to her, saying they couldn't wait for her to come back and stay longer. I guess it might be because I was so happy she could make it up from Montreal to see the house and all.
